Intrauterine insemination is a modern reproductive methods, with which the patient is having difficulty conceiving, could give birth to a healthy baby. The essence of this method consists in the artificial (i.e. no sexual contact) the introduction of sperm into the uterine cavity, which significantly increases the likelihood of pregnancy. This method has a fairly long history, in modern times it is widely used in the presence of certain indications.
When insemination is carried out artificially?
This artificial method can be applied only to a specific group of couples who suffer from infertility. Indications and contraindications are determined after careful examination of the two partners. In some cases, specialists can assess the reproductive condition of the patient (for example, when a woman wants to conceive a child outside of marital relationship or if men are obstacles to the full conception – a complete lack of testicles).
Insemination with frozen sperm is used for male infertility in that case, if the husband has a disease hereditary nature with a poor prognosis, as well as sexual disorder, including disorders associated with a full ejaculation. Another reason – the lack of the patient’s sexual partner, which can be considered constant.
Procedure using the husband’s sperm (the sperm are pre-processing) is carried out when vaginismus in a sterile condition of uncertain origin and with endometriosis in mild of its development.
Are there any contraindications?
Please note that this assisted reproductive method is not applicable in the presence of intense inflammatory processes of nature, when abnormalities infectious nature of cancer tumors. Another reason for failure – pathology of psychic character, if they do not allow to bear and raise a child. To refuse can and for deep defects of the uterus, in which childbearing is not possible.
Thus, insemination of sperm into the uterus is a quite effective technique which can be used for infertility. The procedure is not only efficient, but also low cost, unlike EKO.
